Independence Day is only a few days away! It has definitely crept up on me, but I was determined to get this pattern out ASAP! Better late than never right?! LOL. I have been making so many patterns with the Heartsprinkle Stitch…I had to get one out for 4th of July! But this pillow is also great for Memorial Day or any day to show your American pride!
Materials:
- Worsted Weight Yarn
- 4.5mm Crochet Hook
- 18″ Pillow Form
- Darning Needle
Abbreviations:
- dc-double crochet
- SPdc-spike double crochet
- Long SPdc-long spike double crochet
- ch-chain
- sk-skip
- sc-single crochet
Notes:
- Rows are written in sequence that needs to be repeated all the way to the end.
- I chain two at the beginning but most chain three.
- Chain two (or chain three) counts as a stitch.
- SPdc is a spike stitch into top of the skipped stitch two rows down.
- Long SPdc is a spike stitch into top of the skipped stitch three rows down.
- For every chain 1, skip a stitch
Wide Stripe Spacing
With Blue Yarn
Row 1: Ch 66. Dc in 3rd ch, and in all chains across. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 2: Dc in all stitch across. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 3: Dc 4, *[ch 1, dc 5]*repeat*. Fasten off. (65)
Row 4: Attach white yarn, ch 2, dc, *[ch 1, dc 2, SPdc, dc 2]*repeat*. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 5: Dc, ch 1, *[dc 2, ch 1]*repeat*. Fasten off. (65)
With Red Yarn
Row 6: Attach red yarn, ch 2, dc, long SPdc, *[dc 2, SPdc, dc 2, long SPdc, dc 2]*repeat*. Ch 2, turn, (65)
Row 7: Dc in all. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 8: Dc in all. Fasten off. (65)
With Blue Yarn
Row 9: Attach blue yarn, ch 2, dc in all. (65)
Row 10-16: Repeat rows 2-8
Row 17-40: Repeat rows 9-16 three more times.
Hide all ends.
Regular Stripe Spacing
With Red Yarn
Row 1: Ch 66. Dc in 3rd ch, and in all chains across. Fasten Off. (65)
With Blue Yarn
Row 2: Attach blue yarn, ch 2, dc in all. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 3: Dc 4, *[ch 1, dc 5]*repeat*. Fasten off. (65)
With White Yarn
Row 4: Attach white yarn, ch 2, dc, *[ch 1, dc 2, SPdc, dc 2]*repeat*. Ch 2, turn. (65)
Row 5: Dc, ch 1, *[dc 2, ch 1]*repeat*. Fasten off. (65)
With Red Yarn
Row 6: Attach red yarn, ch 2, dc, long SPdc, *[dc 2, SPdc, dc 2, long SPdc, dc 2]*repeat*. Ch 2, turn, (65)
Row 7: Dc in all. (65)
Row 7-37: Repeat Row 2-7 five times.
With Blue Yarn
Row 38: Attach blue yarn, ch 2, dc in all. (65)
Hide all ends.
Trim:
With white
Attach white yarn, ch 1, sc all around. When you get to the third side, insert your pillow form. Sc closed, join with slip stitch.
You can choose to make do any style trim. On the sample photo, I have used the crab stitch.
